California SB 253 and 261

California SB 253 and 261 in Odoo: what it covers, what it doesn't, and which version

The California SB 253 and 261 module fits if you run Odoo 17, 18, 19 or 20 and want the GHG inventory and the CARB rules for SB 253 and SB 261 calculated on FlexigoTech Cloud from your Odoo. It has no built-in deadlines, does not use eGRID or EPA data, and the service does not include setup, importing historical data or migrating your database. It is published for all four versions; what changes when you upgrade is where you bought the module.

What the module calculates and where

The module works with a FlexigoTech Cloud service, and that is where the greenhouse gas inventory (GHG inventory) and the CARB rules for SB 253 and SB 261 are calculated. The listing describes this GHG inventory and CARB rules engine as part of the service, with its maintenance and monitoring.

Before deciding, read two details in the listing. First, no deadlines are built in. The cloud gives each CARB rule with its status, which can be in force, pending OAL approval or suspended. Second, it does not use eGRID or EPA data, because their licence does not allow it. If the way you work relies on those sources, factor that in from the start.

Which Odoo versions it is published for

The module is published on Odoo Apps for 17.0, 18.0, 19.0 and 20.0; the listing for each of those versions responded correctly on 03-11-2026. If your Odoo is on one of them, there is a listing for your version on Odoo Apps, and each version has its own.

On Odoo Apps it costs €9 per Odoo version, one-off payment, excluding VAT, for 17, 18, 19 and 20. The local service subscription is separate: €29 a month or €290 a year excluding VAT (Pro: €58 a month or €580 a year).

Without a subscription, or with the service suspended, whatever the subscription provides stops; your data stays in your Odoo.

What changes when you upgrade Odoo

This is where it matters where you bought the module. With the subscription, the module for new Odoo versions is included if you bought it on flexigotech.com. If you bought it on the Odoo App Store, each Odoo version is bought there.

Migrating the database is a separate matter: FlexigoTech does not take care of migrating your database to a new Odoo version. That work sits outside the service.

Among what the listing says is shared with the service are the database identifier (uuid), its address (URL) and the Odoo version, plus the FlexigoTech modules installed with their version. Module updates are among what the listing includes.

What is included and what isn't, according to the listing

What the listing puts inside the service:

  • The GHG inventory and CARB rules engine, with its maintenance and monitoring.
  • Module updates.
  • Support with a first response within one working day.
  • A check of the service every 6 hours, and health reports.

What the listing leaves out:

  • Customising the module or custom development.
  • Migrating your database to a new Odoo version.
  • Configuring the module for you (the setup).
  • Importing historical data.
  • Support for modules that are not FlexigoTech's.
  • Third-party costs: you contract and pay for your account on each platform, Odoo and your hosting yourself.

What to have ready before installing it

  • An Odoo on 17, 18, 19 or 20, the published versions.
  • Your Odoo subscription and your hosting, which you pay for.
  • Someone to accept the service text: the company name and the email of the person who accepts are recorded, with the date and version of the text accepted.
  • A clear idea of what data leaves your Odoo: besides the above, a public code to check that requests come from that database and a proof that it is that database, computed on your server without sending its secret; whether the database is a neutralised copy (staging or test); and a request for its service permit every 6 hours with the health of the service (counters and errors, with type and code), without the content of your records.
  • A check with whoever runs your systems on where that data goes: all connections to FlexigoTech's servers are encrypted (HTTPS) and the servers are in Germany.
  • A decision on who configures the module and who loads historical data, as neither is part of the service.

Payment is made from Odoo. The listing also mentions a notice when you uninstall the module.

How FlexigoTech can help

Setup, importing historical data and version migration sit outside the service, but FlexigoTech implements Odoo 17, 18, 19 and 20 and builds custom connectors and integrations. If you want someone to prepare your Odoo before switching the module on, or custom development as a separate project, get in touch through the module page.
